Inter Milan have struck an early move for the future after agreeing a deal to sign highly-rated Croatian centre-back Leon Jakirović from Dinamo Zagreb. The transfer, confirmed with a trademark “Here We Go”, underlines Inter’s growing focus on securing elite young talent before their value explodes on the European stage.

The Nerazzurri will pay a fixed fee of €2.5 million for the 18-year-old defender, with a further €2 million included in performance-related add-ons. The agreement also contains a sell-on clause in Dinamo’s favour, ensuring the Croatian club remains financially invested in Jakirović’s long-term development.

Despite strong interest from RB Salzburg, Jakirović has chosen Inter’s project, a decision influenced by the solid relationship between his representatives and the Italian giants. Notably, his agents are the same as those of Petar Sučić, another player with close ties to Inter, which helped smooth negotiations.

Jakirović is expected to travel this week to complete his medical, marking the final step before his official unveiling as an Inter player. While he is unlikely to be thrown straight into first-team action, the club views him as a long-term investment who can be developed within their system.
