Manchester United‘s highly anticipated clash with Manchester City this weekend could mark Michael Carrick’s debut in charge of the Red Devils, and he’s set to have more selection options than expected, according to Manchester World.
Carrick, who is poised to be confirmed as interim manager after the club’s recent managerial upheaval, will prepare his squad for one of the toughest assignments in English football: the Manchester derby at Old Trafford.
However, it’s not an entirely positive picture for United’s boss-in-waiting. Central defender Matthijs de Ligt remains sidelined with a back issue, leaving a gap in the heart of United’s backline and forcing Carrick to rethink his defensive shape.
