Manchester United are reportedly close to appointing Michael Carrick as the club’s interim manager, with an official announcement expected within the next 48 hours. According to reports shared by Fabrizio, talks have progressed significantly, and discussions are now focused on finalising Carrick’s backroom staff.
The former United midfielder, who enjoyed a hugely successful playing career at Old Trafford, is no stranger to the role. Carrick previously stepped in as interim manager during the 2021–22 season following Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s departure, overseeing a brief spell that included a memorable Champions League win away at Villarreal and a draw against Chelsea in the Premier League.
United’s decision to turn to Carrick once again highlights the club’s preference for stability and familiarity during a transitional phase. Highly respected within the club, Carrick is known for his calm demeanour, tactical intelligence, and strong understanding of Manchester United’s culture.
