Manchester United have held positive discussions with former midfielder Michael Carrick regarding the club’s vacant managerial position, with the Englishman emerging as a leading candidate to take charge on an interim basis.

According to reports, Carrick is ready to accept the role and is currently ahead of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the club’s internal deliberations following recent talks. United are expected to announce their new interim manager within the next 24 to 48 hours once a final decision is made.

Carrick, who spent over a decade at Old Trafford as a player, is no stranger to the club’s environment and expectations. He was part of Manchester United’s coaching staff in the past and remains highly regarded by senior figures at the club for his tactical understanding, calm leadership style, and deep connection with the dressing room.

The 42-year-old has previously managed Middlesbrough and gained valuable experience in the Championship, further strengthening his credentials for a short-term appointment. United’s hierarchy are believed to be keen on appointing someone who understands the club culture while providing stability during a transitional period.
