Perth Scorchers skipper Mitchell Marsh produced a blistering century before being dismissed for 102 off 58 deliveries during the Big Bash League 2025–26 match against Hobart Hurricanes at the Bellerive Oval, Hobart.

Marsh brought up his hundred in style earlier in the over, taking a single off Riley Meredith to reach the landmark. The moment was met with applause from teammates and the dugout as Marsh removed his helmet with a composed expression, underlining the significance of the innings with the T20 World Cup just over a month away.

This comes after Australia announced its preliminary squad for the T20 World Cup.

Australia squad: Mitchell Marsh (c), Xavier Bartlett, Cooper Connolly, Pat Cummins, Tim David, Cameron Green, Nathan Ellis, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Matthew Kuhnemann, Glenn Maxwell, Matthew Short, Marcus Stoinis, Adam Zampa

His innings was built on sheer power and control, featuring 11 fours and 5 sixes, as he dominated the Hurricanes’ bowling attack and powered Perth Scorchers to a commanding position late in the innings.

However, Marsh’s stay at the crease ended on the final ball of the 20th over. Nathan Ellis, returning for his spell, bowled a back-of-the-hand slower delivery on a back-of-a-length outside off. Marsh attempted to muscle the ball with a powerful swipe but failed to generate the required elevation. Ben McDermott, positioned near the boundary, judged the catch well and completed it safely.

Marsh was dismissed as Mitchell Marsh c Ben McDermott b Nathan Ellis for 102 (58 balls), bringing an end to a high-quality knock that anchored Perth’s innings and showcased his form ahead of upcoming international commitments.
