Spurious skin care products allegedly imitating the branding of JOY Personal Care were seized in Delhi following three simultaneous raids conducted under an ex-parte order of the Delhi High Court.
The raids were carried out by court-appointed Local Commissioners at two premises in Sadar Bazar and one location in Dilshad Garden, pursuant to a trademark and copyright infringement suit filed by Joy Creators LLP. During the action, large quantities of allegedly infringing cosmetic products, packaging material, labels and promotional content bearing deceptively similar branding to JOY were recovered.
The seized goods were found to closely imitate the trade dress and overall appearance of JOY personal care products. The Local Commissioners prepared detailed inventories and photographic records of the seized material. Despite resistance at certain premises, the court-mandated process was completed and the goods were sealed in accordance with legal procedure.
The matter is now listed for further proceedings before the Delhi High Court.
Commenting on the development, Sunil Agarwal, Co-founder & Chairman, Joy Personal Care (RSH Global), said,
“Counterfeit products violate intellectual property rights and pose serious risks to consumer safety and trust. At JOY, honesty, trust, and consumer well-being are non-negotiable, and we take the responsibility seriously that Indian households have placed in us over decades. Strict enforcement and timely legal action are essential to protect consumers and preserve brand integrity. We appreciate the decisive action taken pursuant to the Hon’ble Delhi High Court’s directions, and we will continue to support the authorities wherever required to prevent such incidents.
