Umpire Rohan Pandit suffered an injury scare during the fifth T20I between India and South Africa after being struck on the knee by a powerful straight drive from Sanju Samson.

The incident took place when Samson drilled a full delivery from Ferreira straight back down the ground. The South African bowler attempted to take the return catch with both hands but failed to hold on, with the ball bursting through and deflecting onto Pandit’s knee at the non-striker’s end.

Pandit was seen wriggling in pain and walked away from his position before going down on the field as the ball rolled towards long-on. Play was immediately halted as medical staff rushed in to assess his condition.

The South African physio was the first to attend to the umpire, followed shortly by the Indian team physio. A spray was applied to the affected area, while Harshit Rana was also seen providing fluids.

After receiving treatment, Pandit remained under observation before play resumed. The unusual on-field incident added to an eventful match that already featured multiple injury scares and controversial moments.
