Play was briefly halted during the fifth T20I between India and South Africa after on-field umpire Rohan Pandit was struck on the knee following a powerful straight drive from Sanju Samson.

The incident occurred when Samson drilled a full delivery from Ferreira straight back down the ground. The bowler attempted to take the return catch with both hands but failed to hold on, with the ball bursting through and deflecting onto Pandit’s knee at the non-striker’s end.

Pandit was seen wriggling in pain and had to walk away from his position before going down on the field as the ball rolled towards long-on. The South African team physio was the first to rush out, followed by the Indian physio, with both attending to the umpire. A spray was applied to the affected area, while Harshit Rana was also seen offering fluids.

After receiving treatment, the umpire remained under observation as players waited for the situation to settle before play resumed. The unusual injury added to a match already filled with dramatic moments and interruptions.
