Indian leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi was sold to Rajasthan Royals (RR) for Rs 7.20 crore at the ongoing IPL 2026 mini-auction, following a tough bidding battle that began with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and later saw Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) also enter the contest.

Bishnoi had entered the auction with a base price of Rs 2 crore, but demand for a high-quality Indian wrist-spinner quickly pushed his value higher. The bidding intensified as multiple franchises looked to secure his services, before RR eventually emerged victorious at Rs 7.20 crore.

IPL career and numbers

Bishnoi has been a consistent performer since his IPL debut in 2020. Across 77 IPL matches, he has taken 72 wickets at an economy rate of 8.22, with best bowling figures of 3 for 24. Known for his fast, flat leg-breaks and deceptive googly, Bishnoi has largely operated as a frontline bowler throughout his IPL career.

Franchise journey

Bishnoi began his IPL career with Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in 2020, after being bought for Rs 2 crore. His impressive debut season saw him nominated for the Emerging Player award.

Ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction, he was drafted by the newly formed Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), where he played until 2025. During his time with LSG, Bishnoi was a key member of the bowling unit and played an important role in the franchise’s playoff appearances in 2022 and 2023.

Auction outcome

Released by LSG ahead of the IPL 2026 mini-auction, Bishnoi returned to the auction pool with expectations of strong interest—and the bidding lived up to that anticipation. After competitive moves from CSK, KKR, and SRH, Rajasthan Royals secured him for Rs 7.20 crore, adding an experienced Indian leg-spinner to their bowling attack.

The signing strengthens RR’s spin resources as they build their squad for the IPL 2026 season.
