England all-rounder Liam Livingstone went unsold in the ongoing IPL 2026 mini-auction, with franchises opting not to bid for him at his base price of Rs 2 crore. The result came as a surprise given Livingstone’s reputation as one of the most destructive middle-order batters in T20 cricket.

Livingstone has featured in 49 IPL matches, scoring 1,051 runs at an average of 26.28 and an aggressive strike rate of 158.76. His highest score in the league is 94, and he has also contributed with the ball, taking 13 wickets at a bowling average of 36.08.

IPL journey and key highlights

Livingstone has represented Rajasthan Royals (2019, 2021), Punjab Kings (2022–2024), and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (2025) during his IPL career. His standout season came in IPL 2022 with Punjab Kings, where he scored 437 runs at a strike rate of 182.08 and picked up six wickets, emerging as one of the most impactful overseas players that year.

Ahead of the IPL 2025 season, Livingstone was bought by RCB for Rs 8.75 crore. However, he endured a difficult campaign, scoring just 112 runs in 10 innings, which led to his release before the IPL 2026 auction.

Unsold at IPL 2026 mini-auction

Despite his ability to offer power-hitting and part-time spin options, Livingstone failed to attract bids in the initial rounds of the IPL 2026 mini-auction in Abu Dhabi. Franchises appeared cautious, possibly influenced by recent form and team combination considerations.

Although unsold for now, Livingstone could still return to the league later in the season as an injury replacement, keeping the door open for another IPL opportunity.
