All-rounder Cameron Green is set to be one of the most closely watched names at the IPL Auction 2026, with multiple franchises weighing their options around squad balance, overseas slots and, crucially, available purse. With teams entering the auction with sharply contrasting budgets, the question is not just who wants Green, but who can realistically afford him.
Among all teams, Kolkata Knight Riders stand out both financially and strategically. KKR enter the auction with the largest purse of ₹64.30 crore, and have a clearly identified need for a high-impact all-rounder following their decision to part ways with Andre Russell. Green’s ability to contribute with both bat and ball fits directly into that gap, making KKR one of the most natural landing spots, especially given their freedom to absorb a premium bid without compromising other targets.
Chennai Super Kings, with a purse of ₹43.40 crore, also sit comfortably in the race from a financial perspective. CSK have released several multi-skill players ahead of the auction and have room to add an overseas all-rounder who can offer flexibility across departments. While their squad construction traditionally focuses on role clarity rather than star chasing, their purse allows them to remain competitive if they choose to engage in a bidding war.
The next tier of contenders includes Sunrisers Hyderabad (₹25.50 crore), Lucknow Super Giants (₹22.95 crore) and Delhi Capitals (₹21.80 crore). For SRH, Green could address balance issues in the middle order while also adding bowling depth, but their moderate purse suggests they would need to be selective. LSG, meanwhile, are actively looking for an all-rounder to complement a pace-heavy bowling attack, although their available funds mean they would have to prioritise Green over other needs. Delhi Capitals, having released multiple overseas players, could theoretically enter the bidding, but a high final price may limit their flexibility later in the auction.
Teams such as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (₹16.40 crore) and Rajasthan Royals (₹16.05 crore) are more constrained financially. While both franchises could benefit from an all-rounder like Green, committing a large portion of their purse to a single player would significantly restrict their ability to fill remaining squad slots, making an aggressive chase less likely unless bidding remains controlled.
At the lower end of the purse table, Gujarat Titans (₹12.90 crore) and Punjab Kings (₹11.50 crore) face clear financial limitations. Both teams already have relatively settled cores, and a high-value bid for Green would leave little room for additional reinforcements. As a result, their involvement may be limited to early interest rather than sustained bidding.
For Mumbai Indians, the equation is straightforward. With a purse of just ₹2.75 crore, MI are effectively ruled out of contention for a marquee overseas all-rounder like Green.
As the auction approaches, Cameron Green’s destination will ultimately depend on how aggressively teams with deeper pockets choose to bid. While several franchises could use a player of his profile, only a handful combine both clear squad requirement and financial muscle, ensuring that his name will be central to one of the auction’s most closely followed bidding battles.
