Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has emerged as the successful bidder for a major inter-state transmission project under the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) framework, reinforcing its leadership in India’s power transmission sector.
In a regulatory filing under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, POWERGRID announced that it has received the Letter of Intent (LoI) on December 15, 2025, for the project titled “Inter-Regional Strengthening between SR Grid and ER Grid.” The project will be developed on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis.
The project involves the establishment of high-capacity 765 kV double-circuit transmission lines, which will pass through the states of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. In addition to the transmission lines, the scope of work includes the development of associated line bays and the installation of reactor systems at both ends of the network. These components are critical for maintaining voltage stability and ensuring efficient long-distance power transfer between regions.
This inter-regional strengthening project is aimed at enhancing power transfer capability between the Southern Region (SR) Grid and the Eastern Region (ER) Grid, improving grid reliability, reducing transmission congestion, and supporting the integration of renewable energy across regions.
