Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has confirmed that Cole Palmer will not feature in Tuesday’s clash against Cardiff City, stressing that the club is taking a cautious approach with the midfielder following his recent return to action.

Speaking ahead of the game, Maresca made it clear that Palmer’s workload is being carefully managed after his comeback, which already yielded positive signs. “Cole cannot play three games in one week,” the Chelsea coach said, underlining the importance of protecting the player from unnecessary risk at this stage.

Palmer recently marked his return with an impressive performance, finding the net and showing flashes of the form that made him one of Chelsea’s standout performers last season. However, despite the encouraging display, the club’s medical and coaching staff have opted against rushing him back into a packed schedule.

Maresca revealed that there is a clear and structured plan in place to reintegrate Palmer gradually, rather than exposing him to heavy minutes too soon. Chelsea are determined to avoid any setbacks, especially with a long season ahead.
