India’s 14-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi delivered another extraordinary performance, smashing 171 off just 95 balls against UAE in the Under-19 Asia Cup at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai on Friday. The southpaw’s explosive knock marked his second Youth ODI century and sixth hundred of 2025 across formats, extending a remarkable year of dominance.
A breathtaking innings
Suryavanshi’s 171 was filled with clean hitting and exceptional stroke play. He hammered nine fours and 14 sixes, falling just short of what could have been his maiden Youth ODI double century. After a steady start, he accelerated rapidly, reaching his fifty in 30 balls. A dropped chance at long-off on 85 allowed him to push on, eventually bringing up his century in 56 balls.
Red-hot form across tournaments
The teenager’s exploits in Dubai add to an already eye-catching set of performances this year. He earlier smashed his maiden Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy century—a 57-ball hundred against Maharashtra on a difficult surface.
In the Rising Stars Asia Cup for India A, Suryavanshi piled up 239 runs at a strike rate of 243.87, including a blistering 42-ball 144 against UAE.
IPL breakthrough at just 14
Suryavanshi’s meteoric rise began even earlier. After debuting in the Ranji Trophy at just 12, he made waves during his first IPL season with Rajasthan Royals. He scored 252 runs at a strike rate of 206.55, headlined by a stunning 38-ball century against Gujarat Titans—the second-fastest in IPL history and one that made him the youngest centurion the tournament has ever seen.
Fastest century in Youth ODIs
This innings against UAE was his second Youth ODI hundred. His first came earlier this year in Worcester against England U-19, where he hammered 143 off 78 balls with 13 fours and 10 sixes. Notably, he reached that century in just 52 balls, making it the fastest hundred in Youth ODI history.
