InterGlobe Aviation, the parent company of IndiGo Airlines, informed the exchanges on Friday, December 12, that it has received a penalty order amounting to Rs 58.74 crore from the Additional Commissioner of CGST, Delhi South Commissionerate. The order pertains to the financial year 2020–21.
According to the company’s disclosure, the GST department has raised a demand along with the penalty; however, IndiGo stated that it believes the order is erroneous. Backed by advice from external tax experts, the company said it has a strong case on merits and will contest the order before the appropriate authority.
IndiGo clarified that the development does not have any significant impact on its financials, operations or other activities. The communication from the GST authorities was received on December 11, 2025.
