Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana has finally broken her silence after weeks of rumours surrounding her relationship and wedding with singer-composer Palash Muchhal, confirming that the much-discussed union has now been called off. In a brief but firm statement shared online, Mandhana said she would like to “close this matter” and shift her complete focus back to cricket, urging fans and the media to respect her privacy.

The speculation around the couple intensified after the planned wedding ceremony in Sangli on November 23 was abruptly halted. What was expected to be a celebratory event turned into a family emergency when Mandhana’s father, Srinivas Mandhana, reportedly showed symptoms of a heart attack. The sudden health scare led to all ceremonies being postponed indefinitely as the family prioritised his recovery.

What followed was a wave of rumours, contradictory claims and online chatter. With Mandhana staying away from social media for days, questions spiralled — until her latest statement made it clear that the wedding is no longer moving forward and she wishes to put an end to all speculation.

Despite the personal setback, Mandhana’s cricketing journey remains on a remarkable upward trajectory. She was recently retained by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for a record Rs 73.5 crore at the WPL 2026 Mega Auction — the franchise’s most valuable retention. Mandhana, who led RCB to their historic WPL 2024 title win, will continue as captain.

Her recent international performances have also been outstanding. During the Women’s World Cup 2025, Mandhana finished as the tournament’s second-highest run-scorer with 434 runs in nine matches, averaging 54.25 with a strike rate of 99.08. Her tally included two half-centuries and a century, further solidifying her status as one of the world’s premier batters.

Now, with her statement drawing a line under the chapter, fans believe Smriti Mandhana is choosing clarity and calm — returning her focus to cricket, rebuilding personally and continuing the journey that made her one of India’s most admired athletes.
