Australia’s lower order continued to frustrate England on Day 3 of the second Ashes Test at The Gabba, with Mitchell Starc bringing up a well-constructed half-century to keep Australia firmly in control of the match.

Starc reached his 12th Test fifty with a powerful boundary off Will Jacks. The delivery was tossed up outside off, and Starc stepped forward to slug it flat through mid-wicket, finding the gap with authority. He moved to 50 from 110 balls, keeping Australia’s lead building as England searched desperately for wickets.

At the time of the milestone, Australia had moved to 461/8, leading England by 127 runs, with Starc unbeaten on 56 and Scott Boland offering support at the other end.

Starc has enjoyed a strong run with the bat throughout the series, consistently adding important lower-order runs and stretching Australia’s innings at crucial stages.
