India’s aviation regulator DGCA on Thursday said IndiGo will continue to face flight cancellations over the next 2–3 days, as the airline deals with major operational strain arising from new pilot duty rules and internal planning gaps.
According to the DGCA, the airline is facing significant transitional challenges in roster planning and crew availability after the rollout of Phase-2 of the revised pilot Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL).
The regulator said IndiGo has accepted that the disruptions have arisen primarily from misjudgment and planning gaps in implementing Phase-2 of the new duty regulations.
IndiGo has also requested operational variations or exemptions from certain provisions that limit pilot duty hours for its A320 fleet, seeking relief until February 10, 2026, the DGCA added.
To stabilise its network, the airline will reduce flight operations starting December 8, a move aimed at minimising further disruption.
The DGCA’s statement comes as IndiGo continues to cancel large numbers of flights, triggering delays and congestion at major airports across the country.
