Manchester United are exploring the possibility of signing 25-year-old midfielder Conor Gallagher from Atlético Madrid in the January transfer window, according to early rumours circulating around the club. While nothing has been confirmed by either side, sources suggest that Atlético may be open to a loan move if an obligation-to-buy clause is included in the deal.

Gallagher, who joined Atlético last year after Chelsea sold him for around €42 million, is reportedly open to a Premier League return. The midfielder has adapted well to life in Spain, but the chance to re-establish himself in England could appeal, especially with a club of United’s stature showing interest.

Manchester United have monitored Gallagher for the last three years and view him as a player who fits the club’s long-term midfield plans. With Casemiro expected to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season, the club’s recruitment team is drawing up a list of potential replacements.
