Vikram Solar Limited has officially announced the appointment of Arun Mittal as the Chief Executive Officer of its wholly owned energy storage subsidiary, VSL Powerhive Private Limited. The development was confirmed through a corporate filing dated December 3, 2025.
The company said the appointment is a key step toward strengthening its presence in India’s rapidly expanding energy storage ecosystem, which is becoming essential for grid stability, peak power management and round-the-clock renewable energy supply. VSL Powerhive has been set up to cater to this growing demand.
According to the press release, Vikram Solar’s manufacturing capacity has expanded significantly, with its new 5 GW facility taking total module capacity from 4.5 GW to 9.5 GW. A further 6 GW expansion is underway, which will take the capacity to 15.5 GW. Additionally, a 12 GW solar cell line is being executed for commissioning by FY27.
Chairman and Managing Director Gyanesh Chaudhary said that battery energy storage will drive the next phase of the global clean energy transition, adding that Mittal’s leadership will help the company build world-class battery capabilities and accelerate its energy storage ambitions.
Mittal brings over 30 years of experience in battery manufacturing, energy storage design and business transformation. He previously served as MD & CEO (India) at Lohum Cleantech and MD & CEO of Exide Energy Solutions. His three-decade-long tenure at Exide Industries saw him rise from a management trainee to Executive Director.
Mittal said energy systems are becoming more storage-driven and decentralized, adding that VSL Powerhive is working on scalable solutions to support India’s energy transition commitments.
The company noted that Vikram Solar now operates with a global presence across 39 countries and has a strong distribution network across India.
