Marco Asensio has reflected on his emotional departure from Real Madrid, describing the club as his “home” while acknowledging that the time had come for a new chapter in his career. Speaking openly about his exit, the Spanish forward revealed that his decision was driven not by sporting or financial reasons, but by a deeply personal need for change.

“As a kid, I’ve always been a fan of Real Madrid,” Asensio said. “It’ll always be my home. But it was time for something new.” The winger, who joined Los Blancos in 2014 and went on to win multiple major titles, including three UEFA Champions League trophies, emphasised that he leaves the club with no regrets.

One of the factors that gave him peace with his decision was winning the Copa del Rey in his final season, one trophy that had eluded him throughout his Madrid career. “I don’t regret anything because in my last year I won the title I was missing. You have to know when to leave places,” he explained.
