Deepti Sharma has created history once again at the WPL 2026 Auction in New Delhi. The India all-rounder became the second most expensive player in Women’s Premier League history, after UP Warriorz used their Right-to-Match (RTM) card and bought her back for Rs 3.2 crore. The price is only behind Smriti Mandhana’s record Rs 3.4 crore bid.
Deepti, who was Player of the Tournament in the Women’s World Cup 2025, had represented UP Warriorz in all three seasons since the league began. However, she was released ahead of the 2026 mega auction as the franchise entered a rebuilding phase. Delhi Capitals opened the bidding at her base price of Rs 50 lakh, but with no other team initially showing interest, UP Warriorz immediately exercised their RTM option.
The moment UP used their RTM, Delhi Capitals aggressively raised their bid all the way to Rs 3.2 crore. UP Warriorz matched the price, securing their star all-rounder again for a fourth straight season. Deepti, who hails from Uttar Pradesh, returns to her home-state franchise for WPL 2026.
The all-rounder was the third player to go under the hammer on Thursday, making headlines with one of the biggest bids of the day. Her acquisition strengthens UP Warriorz significantly, both in leadership and all-round balance.
