Paras Defence and Space Technologies Limited has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Inter-University Accelerator Centre (IUAC), New Delhi, to collaborate on the development of commercial-grade MRI magnet systems in India. IUAC, an autonomous institute under the University Grants Commission and the Ministry of Education, is known for its work in particle accelerator–based research and advanced scientific development.

Through this partnership, Paras Defence will combine its engineering and manufacturing capabilities with IUAC’s deep domain expertise in accelerator technologies. The aim is to create an indigenous, commercially viable superconducting MRI magnet system, reducing India’s reliance on imported technologies in this critical medical segment.

The companies believe this initiative aligns strongly with the vision of Aatma Nirbhar Bharat by enabling self-reliance in high-end superconducting MRI magnet technology. The development and eventual mass-scale production of these systems within the country could boost domestic innovation, improve availability of advanced medical equipment, and support strategic capabilities in the healthcare and scientific research sectors.
