South Africa’s left-arm pacer Marco Jansen produced a sensational six-wicket haul, running through India’s lower order and ending the hosts’ first innings at 201 in 83.5 overs on Day 3 of the second Test in Guwahati.

Jansen removed Jasprit Bumrah (5 off 17) with a sharp delivery that forced an edge to wicketkeeper Verreynne, completing his sixth wicket of the innings and triggering India’s collapse from a position of recovery led by Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav earlier in the session.

India, who once hoped to avoid the follow-on, folded 288 runs behind South Africa’s first-innings total of 489. The visitors now hold complete command of the Test, with India needing a monumental effort to stay alive in the contest.
