England suffered a crucial setback in the opening session of Day 1 of the first Ashes Test in Perth, losing their fourth wicket at a challenging phase of the innings. Ollie Pope, who was looking well set on 46 off 58 balls, was trapped LBW by Cameron Green, breaking a 55-run partnership with Harry Brook.

Green struck in just his first over, answering critics who had questioned his recent bowling form. The delivery straightened enough to beat Pope’s defence and hit him on the pads. England opted for a review after a discussion between Pope and Brook, but the decision stayed with the on-field umpire as ball-tracking showed umpire’s call on leg-stump.

At the time of the wicket, England were 94/4 in 20 overs, navigating a testing Australian attack in the first session.

Brook remains unbeaten on 21 off 30 balls as England look to rebuild after losing wickets at regular intervals.
