Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has revealed his top three standout performers of the 2025/26 Premier League season so far, highlighting players who, in his view, have exceeded expectations and delivered consistently impressive performances.
Speaking to primevideosport, Rooney began by praising Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo, who has carried his strong form from last season into the new campaign. “Antoine Semenyo, I think he’s been brilliant for Bournemouth carrying on his form from last season,” Rooney said. Semenyo has been central to Bournemouth’s attacking threat, contributing goals, creativity, and relentless work rate as the Cherries continue to punch above their weight.
Rooney’s second pick was Bryan Mbuemo, who has enjoyed a resurgence at Manchester United following his high-profile summer move. “I’d also put Bryan Mbuemo in there. I think he’s been really good for Man United,” he added.
Rounding off the list, Rooney chose Viktor Gyökeres, the Swedish striker who joined Arsenal in a blockbuster transfer to fill the club’s long-standing need for a prolific No.9. “Third one I’ll probably go Gyökeres. I think Arsenal wanted a number 9 for a few years… he’s come in and his work rate, his determination, his hold-up play and obviously scoring a few goals as well,” Rooney said.
