The Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has moved a step forward in its investigation into the Lilavati Hospital Trust financial irregularities case. According to information shared by CNBC-TV18 citing its sources, the EOW is set to summon HDFC Bank’s Managing Director and CEO, Sashidhar Jagdishan, in connection with the ongoing probe.
The Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Medical Trust, which operates Mumbai’s well-known Lilavati Hospital, has been under scrutiny over allegations of fund misappropriation and financial fraud. Current trustees have accused former trustees of diverting and misusing trust funds, with the suspected amount reported to be around ₹1,300 crore. The EOW has been examining the financial trail and the banking transactions linked to the trust as part of the wider investigation.
As per the same report, all individuals identified as accused in the case—including Jagdishan—will be issued summons for questioning. The move is part of standard procedure as the EOW pieces together the financial structure, approves transactions, and roles of associated entities during the period under probe.
