Bharti Airtel has expanded its mobile network footprint to Man and Merak, two remote villages on the eastern border of Ladakh, close to the popular Pangong Lake. With this rollout, Airtel has become the only telecom operator providing reliable mobile connectivity across this strategically important and hard-to-reach region.
For years, the stretch between Man and Merak had almost no connectivity, leaving a nearly 50 km corridor without any telecom network. The arrival of high-speed Airtel services is a major boost for the local community, security forces posted in the area, and the growing number of tourists visiting Panchong Tso.
This expansion also ensures seamless connectivity along the full route between Chushul and Pangong Lake, strengthening the travel experience and supporting the region’s tourism potential.
Airtel’s continuous push into high-altitude and remote areas highlights its commitment to reducing the digital divide and reinforcing India’s telecom infrastructure, even in some of the toughest terrains in the country.
