Time Medical International Ventures (India) Pvt Ltd, the wholly owned subsidiary of Fischer Medical Ventures Limited, has announced a major technological breakthrough with the launch of VEGA, a next-generation low-field TOF (Time-of-Flight) MRI system engineered specifically for rapid, non-contrast screening of unruptured intracranial aneurysms. The development has been carried out in close collaboration with renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Iype Cherian.
According to the company, VEGA marks a significant step toward making large-scale, preventive neurovascular screening feasible and affordable across India. The announcement was shared through an official press release submitted to BSE and NSE on November 17, 2025.
Why India needs mass-scale aneurysm screening
The press release highlights that 3.2% of adults globally carry an unruptured intracranial aneurysm, translating to nearly 30 million people in India at risk. Each year, India records an estimated 85,000–115,000 cases of subarachnoid haemorrhage, most commonly affecting people aged 40 to 60. Mortality from ruptures ranges from 26–45%, and nearly half the patients do not reach treatment on time.
With over 700 million Indians above the age of 40, the country represents one of the world’s largest potential cohorts for preventive aneurysm screening.
VEGA: India-first low-field TOF MRI for mass deployment
The VEGA system uses a permanent-magnet low-field MRI design, eliminating helium dependency and dramatically reducing operational costs. It delivers high-quality TOF vascular scans in just six minutes, without contrast or radiation—making it ideal for district hospitals, semi-urban centres, and mobile diagnostic units.
Artificial intelligence further enhances the system’s scalability. Deep-learning models can detect aneurysms with more than 95% sensitivity, enabling teleradiology-driven screening even in regions with limited specialist manpower.
What experts say
Dr. Iype Cherian emphasised that aneurysm rupture is “one of the most catastrophic neurological events, yet entirely preventable when detected in time,” adding that low-field MRI is the path to shift India from emergency response to early prevention.
Ms. Svetlana, Director at Time Medical India, noted that VEGA is designed for “scale, sustainability, and accessibility,” enabling high-value neurovascular imaging at costs previously unattainable for smaller healthcare centres.
About Dr. Iype Cherian
The press release includes an extensive profile of Dr. Cherian—one of the world’s leading neurosurgeons, known for innovations such as Cisternostomy, Brain Cooling, and creation of the Sanma Yoko Exoscope. His career spans groundbreaking surgical techniques, next-gen instrument design, and global neurosurgical training through “Neurosurgery Coach.”
