The WBBL clash between Hobart Hurricanes Women and Brisbane Heat Women resumed under revised conditions after a long delay caused by lightning and heavy rain at Drummoyne Oval. With the match reduced to 12 overs per side, the Hurricanes completed their innings at 114/1, setting up a challenging chase for the Brisbane side.

Lizelle Lee was the star of the innings, smashing 59 off 45 balls with six fours and three sixes, anchoring the shortened innings with controlled aggression. Danni Wyatt-Hodge’s fluent 44 off 26 balls gave Hobart early momentum before she fell to Jess Jonassen at 109/1 in the 11.2 over. Nicola Carey chipped in with 2* off 2 balls at the end.

Hurricanes capitalised in the back half of the innings, scoring 63 runs in the final five overs, finishing with strong momentum despite the disruption.

DRS (DLS) comes into play; Brisbane Heat’s revised target set to 125

Due to overs lost from lightning and rain, the DLS method was applied. As a result, Brisbane Heat have been given a revised target of 125 runs in 12 overs.

Final Hurricanes score: 114/1 in 12 overs

  • Revised match: 12 overs per side
  • Revised target for Brisbane Heat: 125 runs
  • Lizelle Lee: 59* (45)
  • Wyatt-Hodge: 44 (26)
  • Jonassen: 1/12 from 3 overs

With power-hitters in the Heat lineup and a stiff chase required at more than 10 runs per over from ball one, an explosive finish is on the cards at Drummoyne Oval.
