In a major breakthrough linked to the broader terror network under scrutiny, Jammu & Kashmir Police on Thursday arrested two hybrid terrorists — Shabir Najar and Shabir Mir — during a joint operation with security forces in Moominabad, Sopore.

2. Amit Shah, Ajit Doval in high-level meeting over security review

Amid the intensifying probe, a high-level security meeting was held at the residence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The meeting was attended by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Intelligence Bureau Chief Tapan Kumar Deka, and Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan.
The discussions reportedly focused on threat assessment, multi-agency coordination, and updates from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which has taken over the probe.

3. Suspects used Swiss encrypted app ‘Threema’ to plan the attack

Investigators revealed that the three doctors linked to Faridabad’s Al-Falah University — Dr Umar Un Nabi, Dr Muzammil Ganaie, and Dr Shaheen Shahid — used a Swiss encrypted communication app, Threema, to coordinate the terror plot.
Officials told PTI that Threema’s anonymity features, which do not require a phone number or email ID for registration, made it difficult to trace the suspects’ activities.

Probes indicate:

  • Umar, believed to be the most radicalised, drove the car that exploded.

  • He reportedly used a red Ford EcoSport (seized from Faridabad) to store and transport ammonium nitrate.

  • The group carried out multiple recces in Delhi and were awaiting orders from their handlers.

  • The death toll has risen to 13, with several injured still in hospitals.

  • Umar cut off all digital communication after Muzammil’s arrest.
