Barcelona president Joan Laporta has ruled out any possibility of Lionel Messi returning to the club as a player, insisting that the timing and circumstances do not allow for such discussions. Speaking to Catalunya Radio, Laporta addressed recent speculation after Messi made a surprise visit to the Camp Nou.

“Out of respect for Messi, our players and our staff members, it’s not the time to speculate with unrealistic scenarios,” Laporta stated firmly. “I was glad to see Messi back at the Camp Nou, but no, we didn’t know he was coming. We love him. This is his home and he knows it. I still think he deserves the best farewell in history with Barcelona fans reunited.”

The Argentine legend, who now plays for Inter Miami in Major League Soccer, returned to Barcelona recently, sparking a wave of excitement among supporters who continue to dream of a reunion. However, Laporta’s comments make it clear that while the emotional bond between Messi and the club remains strong, a professional return is not on the table.
