Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ), India’s largest integrated transport utility, has announced that it has become a Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) Adopter, marking a major milestone in its sustainability journey. With this move, APSEZ has become the first Integrated Transport Utility in India to align with the TNFD framework, setting a new benchmark for nature-positive and sustainable infrastructure development.

The TNFD is a global, science-based initiative co-founded by the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), World Wildlife Fund (WWF), and Global Canopy. The framework guides companies worldwide to identify, assess, manage, and disclose their nature-related risks, impacts, and opportunities in a structured and transparent manner.

By joining this global movement, APSEZ aligns itself with leading international port operators that are taking measurable steps to protect biodiversity and marine ecosystems. This commitment underlines APSEZ’s proactive approach to environmental stewardship, reinforcing its position as a leader in sustainable maritime logistics.

Starting from FY26, APSEZ will enhance its sustainability and ESG disclosures to comply with TNFD-aligned reporting standards. This will include detailed assessments of nature-related dependencies and risks, along with data-driven insights into its impact on natural ecosystems.

As part of its ongoing ESG strategy, APSEZ has already established climate risk assessment and disclosure practices consistent with globally recognized frameworks. The company has also made significant strides in mangrove conservation, having afforested over 4,200 hectares and actively conserving another 3,000 hectares — making it the largest private sector contributor to mangrove restoration in India.

These initiatives not only help in preserving biodiversity but also act as natural climate buffers, protecting coastal ecosystems and enhancing long-term business resilience.

With the adoption of the TNFD framework, Adani Ports continues to strengthen its position as a global leader in sustainable, nature-positive infrastructure, reflecting its deep commitment to building a resilient, environmentally responsible future for India’s maritime and logistics sector.
