Bengaluru/Palakkad, November 12, 2025: ITI Limited, the country’s first PSU post-independence and a premier telecom manufacturing company, has partnered with the Government of Kerala to launch the upgraded version of its online auto and cab booking platform — Kerala Savaari 2.0. The initiative was launched on November 4, 2025, by the State Minister for Labour Mr. Sivankutty in Thiruvananthapuram, in the presence of Labour Commissioner Smt. Safna Nazarudeen (IAS), technical partners, labour union leaders, and media representatives.

The upgraded Kerala Savaari 2.0 platform, fully operational in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi, is set to evolve into a multi-modal transport system by December 2025, integrating metro, water metro, feeder buses, autos, and cabs. The model aims to become a benchmark for public transport systems across India.

The platform, operated by the Kerala Motor Workers Welfare Fund Board (KMWWFB) under the Labour Department, functions on a government-fixed subscription model rather than surge pricing. This ensures better income for drivers and affordable fares for passengers. Since its pilot phase in April 2025, Kerala Savaari has onboarded 23,000 drivers, completed 3.6 lakh trips, and generated Rs 9.36 crore in driver earnings, averaging 1,200 trips per day across Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi.

Vision and Expansion

The project aims to become a comprehensive mobility ecosystem, with plans to integrate metro and temple ticketing, tourism bookings, rail tickets, ambulances, and goods transport services in the next phase. Labour Minister Mr. Sivankutty described the initiative as “a symbol of Kerala’s commitment to ensuring worker welfare and safe travel at affordable rates.”

ITI Limited’s Contribution

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Rajesh Rai, Chairman and Managing Director of ITI Limited, said, “ITI is delighted to partner with the Kerala Government to bring this commuter-friendly platform to life. Our Palakkad Unit has long supported Kerala through initiatives like driving license production, digitalisation for the Motor Workers Welfare Fund Board, and supplying laptops to schools. With Kerala Savaari 2.0, we’re proud to help modernize the state’s public transport infrastructure.”

Rai added that ITI’s Palakkad unit will provide continuous technical support to ensure seamless operation, addressing earlier shortcomings from the pilot version launched in 2022.
