South Africa have posted a strong total of 102/3 in 6 overs against Pakistan in the second quarter-final of the Hong Kong Sixes 2025 at Mission Road Ground, Mong Kok. After being asked to bat first, South Africa overcame early setbacks to finish with a flurry of boundaries and sixes, putting Pakistan under pressure in the chase.

Ethan John Cunningham and Blake Simpson powered the Proteas’ innings with a blistering 55-run stand off just 18 balls. Cunningham remained unbeaten on 29 off 10 balls, hammering four sixes, while Simpson added 26 off 9 balls, striking three sixes and a four.

Earlier, Jorich Van Schalkwyk gave South Africa a flying start with five sixes off Abbas Afridi in one over, before falling for 34. Despite losing skipper Jordan Morris cheaply, the lower order maintained the momentum.

For Pakistan, Maaz Sadaqat (2-0-29-0) and Abdul Samad (1-0-25-0) struggled to contain the batters as South Africa piled on 92 runs in the last five overs.

Pakistan now need 103 runs in 6 overs to qualify for the semi-finals.
