Friday, Nov 7: The highly anticipated India vs Pakistan Pool C clash at the Hong Kong Sixes 2025 ended in dramatic fashion, with India winning by 2 runs on the DLS method after heavy rain brought the game to an abrupt halt at the Mission Road Ground, Mong Kok.
Chasing 87 runs, Pakistan were 41/1 in 3 overs when rain intervened. The DLS calculation favored India, who secured a narrow win to open their campaign with two crucial points.
Interestingly, four successive dot balls between overs 1.4 and 2.1 proved decisive in the final DLS outcome. Pakistan’s decision not to take a single off the last ball of the second over also came back to haunt them, as every run became vital once rain arrived.
Before the interruption, Khawaja Nafay (18 off 9) and Abdul Samad (16 off 6) had kept Pakistan’s chase alive after Maaz Sadaqat fell early to Stuart Binny. Earlier, India posted 86/4, driven by Robin Uthappa’s 28 (11) and skipper Dinesh Karthik’s unbeaten 17 (6).
While India celebrated a hard-fought DLS win, Pakistan will rue their missed opportunities and the costly dot-ball stretch. The focus now shifts to the upcoming blockbuster — Australia vs England, scheduled later in the day, weather permitting.
