Apple TV+ users reported outages during the premiere of Vince Gilligan’s Pluribus. Here’s what actually happened, what caused it, and whether the sci-fi series really crashed Apple TV+.

What Is Pluribus?

Pluribus is Apple TV+’s latest big-budget original series from Vince Gilligan, the creator of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. Starring Rhea Seehorn, the sci-fi drama follows “the most miserable person on Earth” who is suddenly tasked with saving humanity from happiness — a bizarre but intriguing premise that’s drawn global attention.

The show debuted worldwide on November 7, 2025, with two episodes, followed by weekly releases every Friday until December 26, 2025. Its combination of a beloved creative duo, star power, and mysterious concept made it one of Apple’s most-anticipated launches of the year.

Did Pluribus Crash Apple TV+?

When Pluribus dropped, social media and Reddit lit up — not just with praise, but with complaints. Dozens of Apple TV+ subscribers claimed they couldn’t stream the premiere properly. Some encountered “There’s a problem loading this content” messages, while others said the app froze entirely.

According to several user posts on Reddit, the outage began roughly an hour after the premiere went live, affecting viewers across the U.S., the U.K., and parts of Asia. One popular comment read: “Pluribus came out an hour ago, and now the whole app seems to be down.”

However, Apple has not officially confirmed any outage related to Pluribus. The company’s System Status page did not list disruptions for Apple TV+ during that period, suggesting either a localized issue or one resolved before being logged publicly.
