United States Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau announced on Tuesday that President Donald Trump will host Uzbekistani President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Washington next week, marking what officials describe as a “new stage” in bilateral relations between the two nations.

During his visit to Tashkent, Landau commended Uzbekistan’s “amazing hospitality” and called his discussions with Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov “highly productive.” Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to advancing an “Enhanced Strategic Partnership”, emphasizing ongoing collaboration in trade, investment, education, and innovation.

Saidov noted that the talks also focused on ensuring the full implementation of previous agreements made between Presidents Trump and Mirziyoyev.

Landau’s visit to Uzbekistan forms part of a broader Central Asia tour that also includes Kazakhstan, aimed at deepening U.S. engagement and regional cooperation.

The upcoming meeting in Washington is expected to underscore the U.S.’s growing interest in Central Asia’s economic potential and geopolitical significance amid shifting global dynamics.
