Tension flared briefly at the Sydney Cricket Ground during the third ODI between India and Australia when Josh Hazlewood injured his finger while attempting to take a catch off Rohit Sharma.

The incident occurred in the 37th over when Nathan Ellis bowled a short delivery at 130.1 kmph. Rohit, attempting a pull shot, top-edged the ball high into the air. Hazlewood, stationed at mid-on, sprinted forward to complete the catch but was a touch late in his charge. As he dived forward, the ball dipped sharply and fell just short of his hands — but not before grazing his finger painfully.

The tall pacer appeared in visible discomfort, and the physio was called in immediately. According to on-field visuals, blood was seen coming out of his finger, prompting medical attention.

At the time of the incident, India stood comfortably at 219/1 after 37 overs, needing just 18 more runs for victory. Rohit Sharma was unbeaten on 109 off 119 balls, while Virat Kohli held firm at 68 off 78.

The Australian camp looked concerned as Hazlewood walked off briefly for treatment. However, an official update on the severity of the injury is yet to be confirmed.
