India all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the third ODI against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground after sustaining a left quadriceps injury during the second ODI in Adelaide.

According to the BCCI, the 21-year-old suffered the injury while fielding and was subsequently unavailable for selection for the final ODI. The BCCI Medical Team is currently monitoring his recovery on a daily basis.

Reddy had been one of the few bright sparks for India in the previous game, showing promise with both bat and ball. His absence forced India to bring in Prasidh Krishna and Kuldeep Yadav to strengthen their bowling attack for the final match as they look to avoid a series whitewash.

At the toss, Mitchell Marsh said, “We are gonna bat first. Seems like a really nice wicket. The young guys have stepped up brilliantly and it’s a great opportunity to go 3-0 up.” Meanwhile, Shubman Gill, leading India, shared, “We would have bowled first. Hopefully, this game will be a good one for us.”
