Markets close mixed on Muhurat trading day
The Muhurat Trading 2025 session ended on a mixed note, with the Sensex closing 358 points higher at 84,310.45, while the Nifty 50 slipped 16.90 points to settle at 25,826.25.
Despite early strength, the Nifty cooled off in the final minutes as traders booked profits in frontline financials and IT names.

Top losers during Muhurat trading
Despite the overall positive sentiment, select counters traded lower in the Muhurat trading session 2025. Healthcare Global Enterprises led the decline, slipping 2.15% to Rs 718, followed by Thomas Cook (India) and Sudarshan Chemical, which fell 1.40% and 1.37%, respectively.
Among banking names, Kotak Mahindra Bank was down 0.95% at Rs 2,193.25, while RBL Bank and SBI Cards and Payments also traded marginally lower.

Top gainers during Muhurat trading
During the Muhurat trading session, several mid and large-cap stocks saw strong buying interest. Tata Investment Corporation led the rally, surging 7.33% to Rs 863, followed by DCB Bank which gained 5.26%.
Other notable gainers included Kesoram Industries (+4.45%), Whirlpool of India (+4.09%), PDS (+3.80%), and Allied Blenders (+3.77%).Stocks such as South Indian Bank, TVS Holdings, Poly Medicure, Sarda Energy, Styrenix Performance, and Aurionpro Solutions also traded higher by 2–3%, reflecting broad-based festive optimism across sectors.

Adding to the festive momentum, JM Financial has revealed its 12 stock picks for Diwali 2025, highlighting opportunities for the upcoming Samvat 2082.
The brokerage’s recommendations include Maruti Suzuki India, Axis Bank, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise, L&T Finance, and Ratnamani Metals & Tubes, among others.JM Financial emphasized that banking, auto, and capital goods are expected to remain strong performers over the next year, urging investors to focus on long-term wealth creation rather than short-term trading gains.
The Indian stock market is set for the special Muhurat trading session today, October 21, 2025, marking the beginning of the new Hindu calendar year, Vikram Samvat 2082. The symbolic one-hour session is seen as auspicious by investors and symbolizes a fresh start for wealth creation and prosperity.
This year, BSE, NSE, MCX, and NCDEX will conduct their Muhurat trading sessions as per schedule. The block deal session will run from 1:15 PM to 1:45 PM, followed by the pre-open session (1:30 PM–1:45 PM) and the main Muhurat trading session (1:45 PM–2:45 PM).
