Infosys, a global leader in next-generation digital services and consulting, has secured a landmark £1.2 billion contract from the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) for a period of 15 years. The agreement aims to deliver the Future NHS Workforce Solution, a next-generation, data-driven platform designed to transform workforce management across England and Wales.

Under the new partnership, Infosys will replace the existing Electronic Staff Record (ESR) system, which currently manages payroll for 1.9 million NHS employees, handling over £55 billion in annual salary payments. The project will create a unified, intelligent, and user-friendly digital ecosystem to support the entire employee lifecycle—from recruitment and onboarding to payroll, career development, and retirement.

Infosys was selected after a rigorous procurement process, recognized for its proven expertise in large-scale digital transformation, human-centered design, and operational excellence. The Future NHS Workforce Solution aligns with the NHS 10-Year Health Plan, focusing on modernizing infrastructure and equipping healthcare professionals with smarter tools that enhance efficiency and free up time for patient care.

Powered by advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence and data analytics, the platform will offer flexible, integrated, and real-time workforce management capabilities. It will enable data-driven decision-making, streamline workforce planning, and deliver a seamless user experience.

Additionally, the solution will empower NHS staff to manage their personal and professional information independently, reducing administrative tasks and improving system connectivity across departments. This initiative reinforces Infosys’ commitment to driving innovation in the public sector and supporting the NHS’s vision for a modern, efficient, and future-ready healthcare workforce.
