Oil India Limited (OIL) has signed a long-term Gas Sale and Purchase Agreement (GSPA) with North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) for the continued supply of 1.4 MMSCMD of natural gas to NEEPCO’s Assam Gas Based Power Station (AGBPS) at Bokuloni, Dibrugarh. The new agreement, valid for 15 years, extends the earlier 10-year arrangement between the two companies.
The agreement was formalized by Ranjan Goswami, Executive Director (Business Development), OIL, and Bijit Kumar Goswami, Executive Director (Operation & Maintenance), NEEPCO, at AGBPS, Bokuloni.
AGBPS, the largest gas-based power plant in Assam, plays a crucial role in meeting the region’s electricity demand. This renewed pact reinforces OIL’s commitment to reliable energy supply and showcases the company’s confidence in its robust reserve base and production capabilities.
Through this long-term collaboration, OIL and NEEPCO aim to strengthen energy security in Assam and the Northeast, ensuring uninterrupted power for the region while supporting India’s goal of affordable and clean energy.
As the anchor energy company of the Northeast, Oil India continues to expand its upstream operations and contribute to the nation’s transition towards a gas-based economy, aligning with India’s broader energy transition goals.
