SpiceJet Limited announced that it has received three new aircraft — including one Airbus A340 wide-body and two Boeing 737s — marking the start of its ambitious winter expansion program designed to meet the sharp rise in air travel demand this holiday season .

The airline plans to induct a total of 20 new aircraft between October and November under a damp lease model and un-ground four additional planes by mid-December, boosting operational capacity significantly.

According to SpiceJet, the expansion will more than double its operational fleet and triple its available seat kilometers (ASKM) by December 2025. The new aircraft will join operations between October 10 and 11, with additional route launches and higher flight frequencies expected over the coming weeks .

Chairman and Managing Director Ajay Singh said,

“This is just the beginning of a large-scale expansion that will redefine SpiceJet’s operations this winter. With every new induction, we are strengthening our operational capabilities, opening new routes, and ensuring greater convenience and connectivity for passengers across India and beyond.”

SpiceJet, one of India’s leading low-cost carriers, operates a mixed fleet of Boeing 737s and Q-400s, and remains a key player in India’s UDAN Regional Connectivity Scheme. Most of its aircraft offer SpiceMax, India’s most spacious economy-class seating .

This expansion comes at a time when domestic air traffic has rebounded sharply, and the airline aims to capitalize on peak festive-season demand through increased frequencies and new destinations.
