Tata Steel Limited on Thursday reported a strong operational performance for the second quarter of FY26, with its India crude steel production rising 8% sequentially and 7% year-on-year to 5.67 million tons, aided by normalization of operations following the completion of the G Blast furnace relining at Jamshedpur.
Domestic deliveries grew 20% QoQ and 7% YoY to 5.56 million tons, supported by stable demand across market segments despite seasonal monsoon impact. On a half-year basis, production stood at 10.9 million tons, up 3% YoY, while deliveries rose 3% YoY to 10.31 million tons.
Segment highlights
- The Automotive & Special Products division delivered around 0.8 million tons, driven by the new Continuous Galvanising Line at Kalinganagar and the newly commissioned combi-mill focused on specialty bars and wire rods.
- The Branded Products & Retail vertical achieved record quarterly sales of ~1.9 million tons, surpassing its previous best in Q4 FY25, led by brands such as Tata Tiscon, Tata Astrum, and Tata Steelium.
- Industrial Products & Projects posted strong growth, with engineering volumes up 22% QoQ and 16% YoY, while SmartF@B solutions grew 80% YoY.
- The company’s e-commerce platforms, Tata Steel Aashiyana and DigECA, recorded a Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) of Rs 1,980 crore, more than tripling YoY.
Internationally, Tata Steel Netherlands reported liquid steel production of 1.67 million tons and deliveries of 1.54 million tons, slightly higher both QoQ and YoY. Meanwhile, Tata Steel UK delivered 0.56 million tons, with the company commencing construction of its Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) project at Port Talbot.
