Cristiano Ronaldo has once again silenced talks of retirement, confirming that he intends to keep playing football for a few more years. Speaking at an awards ceremony, the 39-year-old Portuguese superstar expressed his continued passion for the game and his commitment to both Al Nassr and the Portugal national team.
“I know someone must be tired of still seeing me here at these ceremonies… but I believe I still bring a lot to the Portugal national team and to football,” Ronaldo said with a smile. “I want to keep playing for a few more years, not many… I’ve to be honest. I want to thank all my teammates for everything I’ve learned from them and from this young generation. We want World Cup 2026 qualification.”
Despite approaching his 40s, Ronaldo continues to perform at a high level in the Saudi Pro League and remains a key figure for Portugal. His leadership and experience have been instrumental in guiding the younger players, with the forward insisting he still feels capable of contributing at the top level.
“I’m still producing good things, helping my club and Portugal. So… why not continuing?” he added. “I’m sure when I retire, I’ll leave fulfilled because I gave everything.”
Ronaldo also reflected on his current mindset, emphasizing that he prefers to live in the moment rather than focus too far ahead.
