Delhi Capitals won the toss and opted to bat first against Kings XI Punjab. DC had a good start as the touched 50 runs in the first 5 overs. After Prithvi Shaw departed early, Shikhar Dhawan stood his ground and played an impressive inning for DC. Partnered by skipper Shreyas Iyer and then later Marcus Stoinnis, Dhawan anchored the innings. Punjab would have looked to restrict DC early on as they become explosive going to the end. Rishabh Pant who missed a match due to an injury could not make big runs and lost his wicket to Maxwell which was a little disappointing for DC.
First wicket of the game for Shami!
Stoinis departs for 9.
