India tightened their grip over the much-anticipated India vs Pakistan Women’s World Cup 2025 match in Colombo, as Kranti Gaud delivered a fiery spell to reduce Pakistan to 26/3 after 11 overs in pursuit of 248.
After dismissing Sadaf Shamas with an easy caught-and-bowled — a soft return off the thick outer edge that Gaud reverse-cupped comfortably — the Indian bowler struck again in quick succession. Aliya Riaz, who looked tentative from the start, fell for just 2 runs after a loose shot outside off found Deepti Sharma at second slip, who took a sharp low catch.
The double breakthrough came at a crucial time, following Muneeba Ali’s controversial run-out earlier in the innings, leaving Pakistan’s top order rattled.
At the time of writing, Pakistan are 26/3 in 11.1 overs, with opener Sidra Amin struggling to anchor the innings under mounting pressure. Kranti Gaud’s figures of 2/10 in 5.1 overs have placed India firmly on top, as they look to extend their unbeaten World Cup record against Pakistan.
