Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is in the spotlight today following a key development in its defense manufacturing segment. On September 30, 2025, GE Aerospace handed over the fourth F404–IN20 engine to HAL under a 2021 order.
These engines are set to power the LCA Mark 1A fighter jets, which are expected to join the Indian Air Force fleet soon. Under the 2021 contract, GE Aerospace is scheduled to supply a total of 99 GE-404 engines, marking a significant step in India’s indigenous fighter jet program.
