Real Madrid lost their first game of the season last weekend which was played against Atlético Madrid in the La Liga (2025/26). New manager Xabi lost his first game as Madrid’s manager and the club captian has his say on this.
Real Madrid endured their first setback of the 2025/26 La Liga season last weekend, falling to city rivals Atlético Madrid in a tightly contested derby. The loss also marked Xabi Alonso’s first defeat since taking charge as Los Blancos’ new manager, bringing an early test to his reign at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Club captain Fede Valverde addressed the situation on Monday night ahead of Madrid’s upcoming UEFA Champions League clash against Kairat. The Uruguayan midfielder admitted his frustration with his own form, saying:
“I’m frustrated. I’m aware of how I’m playing. A player knows when he’s not doing things right on the pitch. I started well in this new project but now it’s been harder for me to feel comfortable. I’ll continue to give my all as captain, on and off it.”
